The Royal British Legion Women's Section provides dedicated financial assistance to support the education, wellbeing, and development of dependent children across armed forces families in times of financial hardship.

Our grant schemes

We offer specialised welfare and educational awards to assist serving personnel, veterans, and their partners with vital living, learning, and developmental costs.

Children under 16

Essential support for dependent children aged 16 and under not in further education, assisting families with everyday necessities, clothing, and primary educational supplies.

Students aged 16 to 21

Targeted assistance for young adults up to age 21 who remain in full-time education, helping alleviate the cost of books, course materials, and related study expenses.

Medically dependent

Dedicated grants to relieve financial strain for dependent children with chronic conditions or specialist medical requirements within service households.

The Children's Welfare Scheme

The Children's Welfare Scheme can award grants for current and former service personnel and their partners towards the cost of essential items required by their dependent children in times of need or financial hardship.
