About the Royal British Legion Women's Section

Founded in 1921, the Women's Section is an autonomous, self-funding organisation within the Royal British Legion family. Operating under Royal Charter and proud to have HRH The Princess Royal as our National President, we provide Welfare Support and Educational Grants to Armed Forces widows, dependants, and families.

Safeguarding Armed Forces families since 1921

The Women's Section was originally created to safeguard the interests of widows and families of those who served in the Armed Forces. As an integral yet independent part of the Royal British Legion, we maintain our own governance and dedicated fundraising schemes. Our enduring mission ensures that the dependants of our service and ex-service personnel never have to face life's challenges alone.

Educational Grants and Scholarships under the President's Award Scheme

Our Benevolent Fund provides transformative assistance to spouses, children, and dependants of both currently serving and ex-Service personnel. Through dedicated Educational Grants and Welfare Schemes, we open doors to learning and career development, helping families achieve lasting stability and bright futures.
Every penny raised directly supports the vital needs of our military community.

A warm, open community where everyone is welcome

You do not need a military background to join our vibrant community. Whether you connect through a local branch or join our National digital branch, Pall Mall, which connects members across the country through email and online channels, you will find warm fellowship and purposeful action.

"Together, we can honour service, strengthen our community, and provide vital support to those who need it most.
Everyone is welcome to join us."
